Dear Reader
Recovery consisted of post surgical hospitalization followed by home care - nursing, physical therapy and aides, followed by a re-hospitalization and then by a rehabilitation facility and finally home.
The original 2 day post surgical hospital stay was typical. Nothing sensationally good or bad. It seemed all the administrators wanted to do is get patients out of the hospital as quickly as possible.
Home health care was variable: PT and nursing was excellent, the aides assistance varied and probably not needed. My complaints had to do with changes in my physical condition. My condition seemed to deteriorate.: wound was bleeding, infections in arms, and swelling in both lower legs. Eventually re-hospitalized. As condition seem to be controlled I was moved to a rehab facility.
There seemed to be either a failure of communications or misdiagnosis. The reason for my admission was wrong. Care was atrocious, call for care was answered whenever. PT was poor. My ability to move about was limited. I felt restrained. I let myself out on my own recognizance.
My impression of the rehab facility is similar to that of hospitals: they want your money: when they deplete your insurance account they go for the money.
Meanwhile my physical condition was barely improving.
I enrolled in a rehab program. The day following the first treatment, the left toe was in excruciating pain.
And so it goes. The recovery from hell goes on.
